Hope's {think pink} session

They say that beauty comes from the inside out and that it so true of my friend Hope. This past December, Hope was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had to undergo a double mastectomy and is still going through the final stages of chemotherapy. But you would never know it by looking at her. She said the reason she wanted to do this session is to be able to have something to look back on and help her count her blessings. I am so honored that I was the one who got to take these pictures for Hope and her girls. I also hope her bravery inspires others to step out. I love you Hope, Addie, Lexie, and Anna!

Here's an earlier post explaining think pink photography and how you can qualify for a session.

I stumbled across this great organization on the internet and became smitten with the cause. I immediately requested information and signed up to be a part of it. Here's what it's about. Spread the word.

Through our photography network (which sophiemac is a part of), we are helping breast cancer survivors and their supporters celeberate life with photography sessions. Any individual who has been diagnoesd with breast cancer or completed treatment within the past 12 months qualifies for a think pink session. Sessions are available to document the fight before or during treatment or to celebrate the victory when treatment is complete.
Clients will receive a complimentary session, 4x6 proofs of the session, and 25% off additional print orders. If you or anyone you know has been affected by breast cancer and would like to document their struggles and victories, please contact me at bethanyandrob@comcast.net or 423.494.9065. I will include a free proof disk to the first person who books a think pink session.

I'm not afraid of the dark

I've been trying to experiment more with light and shadow. I fear it like the plague and cringe every time I even think I suspect it in my pictures. But I totally didn't understand that it could be used to my benefit until recently. I had to share this picture because it's strait out of my camera. No editing and no studio lighting was used. The only thing I used was my camera, a flash, and a mirror to bounce the light off of. I have to admit that I'm a little proud of it so that's why I had to show it off. Please let me know what you think. Thanks Kim and Lexi Jo for being at the right place at the right time.

ms. shannon {j frank white rep}

I met Shannon a few months ago and just fell in love with her immediately. She's such a blast to be around and she makes everyone smile no matter what! So her senior session at Cumberland Gap was no exception. It's been a while (8 years exactly) since I've been up there and it was so quaint and charming! It reminded me of Mayberry.

Ok, this has to be one of the funniest pictures that I've taken. We were taking pictures at this old church and guess who was watching over the place? JESUS! Check it out! I didn't know that there were Jesus action figures.

Thanks Shannon, mom and dad for letting me take your pictures. I had so much fun and I enjoyed getting to know you guys. You are such a sweet family.

{seniors}

It's time to get those pictures going. I'm shooting anywhere from Knoxville, Norris, LaFollette, Little Egypt, to Middlesboro. Sitting fee is 50.00 and that includes driving to your choice of location (as long as it's reasonable :) I'm always up for a road trip. Got any ideas that are over the top? Let's do it! We're already gonna take a leap in the lake, have a paint fight, go mudding, and whatever else you can think of. I think I may rename senior shots extreme 2010. Call me and let's get you booked. The ol' red planner is getting booked quick. 423.494.9065 or shoot me an email at bethanyandrob@comcast.net

just a reminder...

that I'm still here :) Still trudging through weddings and dance studio pictures. I will get them posted this week (hopefully).

{sneak peak for mr. and mrs. shetterly}

I shot Kasi and Jason's wedding this past saturday.  It was a crazy day because Sophia had a dance recital.  Kasi was nice enough to let me catch her group dance and solo dance in between shooting.  Thanks for not letting me miss out on that.
Kasi, you were breathtaking and perfect in every way.  Thank you for letting me be apart of your special day.  I can't wait for you two to see your pictures.  Here's a little sneak peak:

hair cuts for everyone!

Today we went to studio visage and got our first hair cuts.  Sophia has had her hair cut before but it was just to trim some edges off.  Today we had a major cut.....a big girl cut!  Sophia went first and wanted the girl to dye it pink.  Mac was after her and let's just say we were giving him everything on her station to keep him in that chair.  He refused to wear the cape but we finally found something he enjoyed.
Please excuse the quality because our appointment was at 2:00 today.  The exact time the storm blew through Knoxville.  We were rerouted because of a flood.  I wasn't about to get the camera out in that weather.  I took them with my camera phone.  I'm really gonna have to get me a point and shoot.  Can someone tell me how to rotate a picture on a camera phone?  I'm sorry for the knot in your neck as you look at this first one.

He wouldn't let her water bottle go!

Sophia's picture were a little more blurry because I had someone in my arms squirming.

recital time at imagine dance studio

I can honestly say that I've never taken so many pictures in one day in my life!  I had to buy a hard drive so I wouldn't crash my computer!  (Well, I've actually been needing one for a while now)  But we were victorious and finished all the pictures around 6:00 that evening.  A special thank you goes out to Kim and Sheila for making the day run so smooth.  Also, thank you to the parents for being so patient!
Imagine Dance Studio recital is Saturday at 2:30 and Sunday at 3:30 at Campbell County High School.  Everyone has worked extremely hard and put so much effort into making this a great show.  Plus Sophia is doing her first solo! I'm such a proud mama!  Believe me, there will be pictures.  Here's a few from saturday. Come out this weekend and show some love, sign up for classes, and be a supporter.

{the wallen family}

This was one of the most special shoots that I have ever gotten to be a part of.  The Wallen family came to me a few weeks ago wanting some shots of their brothers and sisters to surprise their mom for her birthday.  I was more than happy to take their pictures especially after I learned that they lost their brother Randy.  I'm going to try to get a picture of the canvas to post on here.  It speaks for itself.  My mom and I cried as I was unwrapping it.
Patty, I hope your mother and family enjoy the canvas.  Thank you for letting me be a part of your mother's special celebration.  I will never forget this picture!
