It's my turn to pay it forward

I was on the internet a couple of months ago and stumbled across this wonderful program that was started by photographers for photographers.  It's called the roadside families project.  It works sort of like a pay it forward type of deal.  It's where professional photographers take other photographer's pictures of them and their family for free.  But the deal is that if you are chosen, then you must offer free pictures to another photographer within 30 days.  I just thought it was the coolest idea and I wanted to be a part of it.  Even though I have more money invested in my photography equipment than I care to admit, I still don't take enough pictures of Sophia and Mac. And the last time we had a family picture, I was pregnant with Mac.
I spend so much time behind the lens and at the computer editing that family pictures are the last thing that I can think about until now.  My friend Rebekah of www.southerncharmportraits.com was chosen and received her pictures and now it's her turn to pay it forward to my family.  So, it's official.  I have 30 days to pay it forward to a professional photographer who is willing to do the same in return.  If you're interested, please send me an email with your name and company name to bethanyandrob@comcast.net.  I'M SO EXCITED!!!  I can't wait to hear from you!

there is hope

I just wanted to thank everybody who prayed for my friend Hope.  The cancer hasn't spread past the lymph nodes and she's going in for surgery tomorrow to remove it.  Waa Hoo!  Also, my friend Robin who has also battled this is going in for her final surgery friday.  It's such a long drawn out process.  Please be praying for her and her recovery as well.  She's almost finished!  HooRay!
Don't forget the relay for life specials that are going on.  They are listed down below in a blog.

just way too much fun for one gal

The valentine sessions are absolutely taking off!  I am having so much fun and there are so many fun gals out there.  I'm loving it!  I think I have a brave soul who doesn't care for me posting some pics so hopefully I can put some up here soon.  Seriously, we are having such a good time that I'm thinking about making this a permanent thing at sophiemac photography. I'm for sure making this part of a bridal session!  Someone even mentioned parties!  AHHH!  It's crazy and I'm loving it!  So, keep checking back because hopefully there will be some pictures of the fun posted soon.
By the way, it's not too late if you're interested!

The 10.00 ticket is back

Oh yes, the 10.00 ticket is back just in time for Relay For Life.  Ticket sales will start Monday, January 26th.  Here's how it works.  With the purchase of a 10.00 ticket, you receive an 8x10 of your choice.  The 35.00 setting fee is also waved and all proceeds go directly towards Relay For Life.  Here's the details - sessions can be booked from January 26th through March 31st and must be completed by March 31st.  You can find tickets at First Volunteer and ask for Tiffany or by contacting me at 423.494.9065 or bethanyandrob@comcast.net

Relay for life hits close to home

This is going to be one of those blogs where I just lay it all out there.  My friend, Hope was diagnosed around Christmas with breast cancer.  She's 32 and has three little girls.  After surgery, they discovered that it had spread into her lymph nodes.  So her battle continues for now.  I am a strong believer in the power of healing and prayer so please keep her in mind as you pray.  I know he hears everything I say and ask.  She is a fighter and I know that she will win this battle.
So where does this leave me?  After I visited with Hope and her family, I felt powerless.  I wanted to take it all away and make everything all better.  As I drove home I just kept saying, there has to be something I can do.  My life is pretty much pictures right now so I began to think of a way to incorporate photography and a creative way to honor Hope and her family.  So in honor of Hope, I want to offer a chance for people who are affected by cancer the chance to hold on to their memories.  From now until the end of March, in honor of those winning the battle and those already gone, I would like to offer prints 50% off to those directly affected by cancer.  If you would like to donate your savings to Relay for Life, that would be great. However, it's not a requirement. If you are interested, just give me a call @423.494.9065.
This is a small gesture but I want you to know that you are not alone in this fight.  And to my friend Hope, I want this to be a deciding moment that you are going to make it and you will be victorious.  I love you Hope.

a little sneak peek for the malicotes

This was the last shoot of 2008.  Congratulations Natalie and Tim.  I'm almost finished with your pictures after a little set back of the nasty stomach bug making it's way through our entire family and even extended family.
Here's a little sneak peek of the wedding day.  I can't wait for you to see them.

I can't do any shoot without having some feet in them.  Besides, you can't have shoes that look this great and not have them be the center of attention....come on!

Does she have the best bridesmaids or what!

I'm so envious of this picture.  I want one of my very own (with me and my mom of course).  These are her mom's hands helping her get dressed.  *smile*

absolutely dying!!!

It's killing me because I've been working with some girls and their valentine shoot and I can't show them off!!  Maybe I can talk them into publishing one?  Oh well.  If you are interested in a valentine session, please try to let me know by the 27th so we can get you in and get those books back before Valentine's Day.  I only have a few spots left so don't be shy and let's get it going!

great new things coming to sophiemac photography

I've got some great new products coming from sophiemac photography.  I'm going to be adding a tab called products on my website so you will be able to see what they look like and view their prices. Some of the new products include purse albums, flush mount albums, dvd albums, coffee table books, cool new senior products...just way too many to mention!  Also, I've come up with some packages for weddings and maternity into baby's first year.  Look for all of these new changes on my website, sophiemacphotography.com under details.

finally....some shots of 2008

Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from 2008.  I'll be putting some more up really soon.  I just wanted to get some of them up.

His little hound dog eyes are priceless!

This is one of my favs!!

Look at my little elf dance.  Isn't she just adorable? She thought she was hot stuff in that hat and outfit with those curls.  She danced so good.  I was so proud of her.
Rarely will you see my picture on here, but I had to  put a picture of my little skunks on here.  This was one of Sophia's 2 outfits for Halloween this year.  She had to  personalize it a bit and put the red bow and make up on.  Of course she was a girl skunk and brother was the boy and together they were my little stinkers.
I love you Adkins family

This one wasn't supposed to be on here, but I loved it so much Ellen had to forgive me because I had to show it on here.  She's so pretty on the inside and out.
Ok, I loved this picture, but the splash page on my site didn't do it justice.  So I had to show it off for everyone to see.  I LOVE IT!!!
I cry every time I see this picture. It's just Sophia - plain and simple.  Her little worshipping spirit just shines through.  The whole world is a dance and she doesn't pass up any opportunity.

I'm sooo excited!!!

I just had a client ask me if she could do the Valentine pictures without the hair and make up and the answer is absolutely!! The price will be cheaper if you want to do it yourself, but I do promise a great look if you decide to go with it.  So whichever you choose, it will be amazing.  I'm so excited to get started on these pictures next week!!!! I wish I could post them soo bad! I guess you will just have to get your own to see them.
